Legal translation

Legal documents leave no room for approximation. A poorly chosen term in a contract or a certificate can change the meaning of a clause, delay a procedure or lead the receiving body to reject the document. Legal translation at dePapier Translations is done with attention to the specific vocabulary of each legal system and to the form required by whoever will use the document.

What documents we translate

We work with the documents most common in legal, administrative and business procedures:

  • Employment, lease, sale and purchase, and service contracts

  • Birth, marriage and death certificates and criminal record certificates

  • Powers of attorney, declarations and deeds

  • Judgments, court decisions and procedural documents

  • Articles of association, minutes and corporate documents

  • Documents for citizenship, residence and recognition of qualifications procedures

Certified translation for legal purposes

Many legal documents are meant to be submitted to courts, registry offices, embassies or public bodies, which require a certified translation. In those cases, the translation is certified by authentication at a Notary’s Office, with a declaration of fidelity to the original. State in your request which body the document is intended for, so we can confirm the appropriate type of certification.

How we work

Every request is assessed individually. Send us the document and you will receive a clear quote, with no obligation, with the turnaround and conditions explained.

Frequently asked questions

The most common questions about legal translation. If yours is not here, just ask.

It depends on the receiving body. For many countries, a Hague Apostille must be added, which confirms the authenticity of the notarial certification for international use. Some bodies, such as schools, do not always require it. It is therefore best to check with the receiving body before ordering the translation.

For a quote, a legible copy is enough (a scan or a photo). For certification, we tell you in the quote whether the original or a certified copy needs to be presented, depending on the document and the receiving body.

Yes, as long as the content is fully legible. Illegible passages are marked as such in the translation, because a certified translation cannot contain interpretations.

Confidentiality

All documents are treated confidentially. Files sent to us are used solely to prepare the quote and carry out the translation, in accordance with our privacy policy.
